Sport activities are the major reason why people love to go to the beaches and islands around Terengganu. They can have varieties of activities to release tension, ease their mind or just to fulfil their free time. There are also islands and beaches that offer wide area of sport activities and recreation package to the customer.



Pulau Kapas is indeed an ideal family retreat. Swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving in crystal clear waters are recommended or indulge in fishing, squid fishing, jungle trekking and canoeing. Some would prefer lazing on the beach, letting the time goes by, lulled by the soft and whispering winds, doing practically nothing.

Perhentian Islands offer an amazing snorkelling experience in crystal clear waters. Spectacular marine lives and diverse species of hard and soft corals in the clear, aquamarine waters will definitely thrill snorkellers and divers. Here, manta rays, reef sharks, barracudas and turtles roam freely in their natural habitat, did not amazed to the flashing lights of the diver’s underwater camera. For the less adventurous, the beaches are an ideal location just to laze around and do practically nothing.

Redang Island has also been gazetted as a marine park and its brilliant underwater world is one of the best in Malaysia. Redang Island is indeed one of Malaysia’s most idyllic islands. This tropical paradise offers pearly-white sandy beaches, sparkling clear seawater, lovely sunrises and spectacular marine life. Its marvellous marine fish varieties, turtles and huge range of coral reefs make it a wonderful diving spot and its diverse coral species are said to be among the best in the world. There are even a few shipwrecks dive sites, that offer an adventure for divers. Apart from diving, beach lovers can also enjoy other activities like swimming, snorkelling, fishing, boating or sunbathing.

Feel the cool breeze while strolling on the wide stretch of sandy beach overlooking South China Sea at Batu Buruk Beach. A children’s playground, horse riding activities, jogging tracks, resting areas, toilets, eating stalls and performance stage are available. Locals and tourists alike flock the beach spending quality time with the family and the loved ones. There are variety of weekend traditional performance includes dances, silat performance, top spinning as well as traditional games and pastimes. Do not forget to enjoy and watch kite flying during windy season.

Rantau Abang was the most talked about tourist spot in Terengganu which associates the branding of Terengganu as a tourist destination. Local villagers believed that the giant leather-back turtles are attracted to Rantau Abang every year because of the presence of a large rock formation resembling a giant turtle. However, the local believe that the turtles are attracted by two giant turtle stones (Batu Penyu) one lies between the bushes on a little hill in the village off the coast and another submerged underwater.
